《夏洛的网》是写“一个农场里的不测风云，被机敏与睿智扭转，使一个有缺陷的世界回归完美”（《纽约客》书评），是一只叫威尔伯的小猪被一只叫夏洛的蜘蛛拯救的故事。作为美国最伟大的十部儿童文学名著之首，它被誉为“二十世纪读者最多，最受爱戴的童话之一”。它用童话的叙事风格表现出对生命本身的赞美与眷恋，给人以无限温情、感动和憧憬，带给人们关于生命的深沉思索，是一部给成人阅读的童话。它的作者--E.B.怀特，用柔韧无比的蜘蛛网编织了一张理想的、温暖的、美丽的、爱的大网，感动着世界上无数读者。这是一个善良的弱者之间互相扶持的故事。怀特用他幽默的文笔，深入浅出地讲了很有意义的哲理，关于生死，关于友情，关于爱……
怀特被誉为“二十世纪最伟大的美国随笔作家”，是《纽约客》主要撰稿人，一手奠定影响深远的“《纽约客》文风”。他对这个世界上的一切都充满关爱，迷恋简单素朴的农村生活，还是养猪好手，夏洛也是真有其蛛。怀特还写了两部童话，《精灵鼠小弟》和《吹小号的天鹅》，也都被改编拍成了电影。
友谊本身就是一个伟大而温暖的奇迹，再朴实也可以让人热泪盈眶。或许纵使我们拼尽全力也无法改变世界，但是我们还是要一路奋战，在几乎不可动摇的规则中创造一点奇迹。因为生命的意义，正在于此。每个小角色的命运都因为彼此的努力而改变。我们出生，短暂的活着，然后无声无息的死去，如果从未尝试过、努力过，只能算是碌碌无为、虚度年华。幸福的秘密藏在有意义的生命中，爱与被爱，相遇与别离，欢愉与痛楚，挣扎与犹豫，有意义的生命是五味杂陈、千变万化的，是在每一次体验后的成长，是每一个不精打细算、权衡利弊的决定，是每一份明知不可为而为之的勇气，结局是悲是喜，并不重要，重要的是留下的痕迹是否可以轻易地抹去。夏洛在一片荒芜的游乐场死去了，没有一个人陪在她身边，正如她孤独的出生，可是她创造了一个伟大的奇迹——威尔伯完整地度过了它的一生，一遍又一遍的经历了春夏秋冬，一代又一代的迎接着夏洛的子孙。铭记便是生命意义最好的见证。正如《寻梦环游记》中所说：“真正的死亡，是没有一个人记得你”。威尔伯把夏洛这个忠诚的朋友永远地刻在心里最重要的位置，夏洛的生命有了意义。
这就是《夏洛的网》告诉我们关于爱、关于友谊、关于生命的哲理。三个星期，三次读书会，我们共同读完了这本书。每个人都有不同的所感所思，久久不能平息。据说世界上所有好人过去都是一族的，具有某种血缘的联系，后来因为某种原因失散于各地，而对《夏洛的网》的热爱，就是他们相认的暗号。

Yan Feng, a famous scholar and professor of Chinese literature at Fudan university, once said, "this is really a precious book. I think in an ideal world there should be only two kinds of people: those who have read 'Charlotte's Web' and those who are going to read .'"The New York times book review said that "this is a book of friendship, but more of love and protection, of adventure and wonder, of life and death, of trust and betrayal, of pleasure and pain. It is almost a perfect and improbable masterpiece." What kind of book is it ? With anticipation and curiosity, our class members and the headmaster read the original English novel Charlotte's Web together.
"Charlotte's web" is about "a farm accident, turned by wisdom to make a flawed world perfect" (The New Yorker review). It is about a pig named Wilbur who is saved by a spider named Charlotte. As the top of the top 10 greatest children's literature classics in the United States, it is honored as "one of the most read and beloved fairy tales of the 20th century". It uses the narrative style of fairy tale to show the praise and attachment to life itself, giving people infinite warmth, affection and longing, bringing people about the deep thinking of life. It is a fairy tale for adults to read. Its author, E.B. White, weaves an ideal, warm, beautiful and loving web with the incredibly flexible spider web, which has touched countless readers all over the world. This is a story of kind-hearted weak people supporting each other. With his humorous writing style, White said meaningful philosophy in a simple way, about life and death, about friendship, about love...
Known as "the greatest American essayist of the twentieth century", White was the leader writer of The New Yorker. He lay a foundation of the influential writing style of it on his own. He is full of love for everything in the world, infatuated with simple rural life, or a good pig farmer. Charlotte is a true spider, too. White also wrote two fairy tales named "little mouse" and "the swan who played the trumpet," both of which were made into movies.
Friendship itself is a great and warm miracle, no matter how simple it is. We may not be able to change the world with all our efforts, but we will still have to work all the way to create a little miracle in an almost unshakable order, because that's what life is about. The fates of each little character are changed by everyone’s efforts. We are born, live for a short time, and then die quietly. If we never try and make efforts, our life can only be regarded as a mediocre and idle life.
Secret of happiness is in a meaningful life. To love and to be loved, to meet and separation, pleasure and pain, struggle and hesitation,……Meaningful life is mixed and behind every experience. It is the decision regardless of advantage and disadvantage. The ending’s sadness or happiness doesn’t matter, what is important is whether the traces can easily erased. Charlotte died in a deserted playground and no one accompany her, just as her birth, but she created a great miracle -- Wilbur completely spent his all life, generation after generation to meet Charlotte's descendants. Remembering is the best witness to the meaning of life. As coco said: "the real death is that no one remembers you." Wilbur put Charlotte, his most loyal friend, in his heart forever in the most important position, which makes Charlotte's life has a meaning.
The book "Charlotte's web" to tell us about love, about friendship and about the philosophy of life.We read the book together for three weeks, and everyone has different feelings and thoughts.
